Services
We
provide a wide array of editing services for
clients in a variety of fields. Whether you’re a business professional
from an
English-speaking country or one who wants to enter that market but for
whom
English is a second language, a foreign student struggling with English
usage
or a native speaker unsure of the specifics, a blogger, the author of a
book, or
any other writer who requires a little extra assistance in cleaning up
the text
you wish to present well, we’re here to help.
For a very reasonable price, you
can gain some peace of mind about what you’ve written. We make having
confidence in your own writing affordable.
Here are some examples of what
we edit (click on the link to any category below for complete
details).
- Business
Documents
We
can improve your bottom line by editing
proposals, save you needless expenditures by proofreading training
manuals, and
safeguard your reputation by correcting correspondence and press
releases.
Of course, we also do HR material, newsletters, product instructions,
and more.
- Advertising
We
handle display ads placed in all kinds of
media for all sorts of products; and we know how important this large
investment is for any business, because we’ve been proofing advertising
copy
for years. Whatever outlet an ad is intended for, whether print
publication,
direct mailing, or the internet, your printer or webmaster probably
can’t be
bothered with your errors. Web developers and printers usually expect
the customer to supply
correct
copy and take no responsibility themselves for publishing the most
obvious
mistakes. Fortunately, you can rely on us to take care of that problem.
Compare the cost of your current advertising budget with the small
fraction of it
we’d charge to make sure the entire investment isn’t misspent.
We also have special pricing for our Regular Business
Customers.
- ESL
(English as a Second Language) Material
If
English is your second language, you probably
have difficulty composing business letters, advertising copy, web
pages, or
product descriptions that sound natural to English-speaking
readers —
and this
can cost you a lot of potential business.
But that’s also where we can be of help. Let us increase your sales by
making
what you write sound more natural to the customers you want to attract.
After all, it doesn’t matter how good your business is when your
description of it
isn’t.
Our fees are modest. The price of correcting one page is far less than
that of
a single lost sale.
- Websites
You
only have a few seconds per viewing to
capture the attention of your potential internet audience. Blatant
errors on a
web page cause prospective followers, customers, and clients to simply
move on
to another site. They reason that if the creator of a web page
doesn’t
respect readers enough to eliminate spelling mistakes or poor grammar,
then a
reader has little cause to respect the content.
Your website is probably your chief portal to the world. It’s how you
introduce
yourself to potential buyers, the primary form of advertising for
your business; and, just like any other type of advertising, you only
get one chance
to make a
first impression.
- Blogs
You
put a lot of thought into writing a blog.
Obviously, you’d like other people to read it.
Unfortunately, when visitors are annoyed by conspicuous mistakes in the
way
you
write, they usually don’t read much further.
If you let us improve your punctuation and spelling, those thoughts
will still
be yours. The voice will always be your own, because we don’t rewrite
what you
think or alter it into something else. We simply fix the basic flaws in
your presentation that can make it sound…well, thoughtless. More people
will read
your
work when it isn’t riddled with common errors.
So, if your blog is as important to you as we believe it is, consider
letting
us proof it before you post it.
- Manuscripts
After
all the effort required to write a book,
you should be careful whom you trust it to — even yourself. You may be
a fine
writer, but that doesn’t mean you’re the best choice for a proofreader,
or that
you should hire yourself to be your own editor.
We provide affordable, conscientious editing and proofreading
(combined, at one
low price) for both fiction and nonfiction manuscripts.
Nothing makes a worse introduction to a publisher (or any other reader)
than a
first chapter blemished by faults. If you’d rather avoid that, send it
to us
first.
And
here are some things we don’t do.
- We
do not specialize in medical or legal
editing.
For those who require a medical or legal
editing service, or scientific editing for an article or thesis, we’d
refer you
to someone else. Although your manuscript would undoubtedly benefit
from our
corrections, the improvement would be solely in the communication of
your
ideas, not the more technical aspects of them. Perhaps you should seek
out a
service that concentrates on your area of expertise.
- We
don’t perform foreign language editing, nor
do we do translations. Although
we do read
in more than one language, we’re not conceited enough to suppose we can
offer
the same conscientious service for any besides our own. English is our
mother
tongue, and it’s the language we’re qualified to edit. If you require
editing
in Spanish, French, Dutch, etc., we suggest you find a reputable
service
operated by native speakers who feel the same way. Services that offer
editing
and proofreading in multiple languages are probably relegating the work
to a
scattered, subcontracted staff.
- We
are not a resume service.
If that’s what you’re looking for, plenty are out
there, and we wish you well. Although we will proofread your resume for
errors,
we will not rewrite it for you. In our view, most professionals are
competent
to compose their own resumes, and it would be pretentious of us to
suppose that
we can describe the essentials of who you are or what you’ve
accomplished
better than you’re able to do so for yourself. There is no single
correct format
(many are available, all a matter of style rather than exact
requirement). We
suggest you just choose one and organize the facts of your background
in a
clear, concise manner, focusing, of course, on your best features.
Those
details are the essence of a resume; no one else can supply them, only
you. So
why not save yourself some money, compose your own resume, and let us
simply
check it for mistakes.
